The flu vaccine's available from October 2019. The earlier you get the vaccine, the better.
If you’re someone who needs the vaccine or you have children aged 2-5 and not yet in school (on 1 September 2019), contact your GP practice (or midwife if you're pregnant) to make an appointment or find out about local flu clinic arrangements.
Primary school children
Primary school children are being offered the nasal-spray vaccine in school between October and December.
Complete and return the consent form that your child brings home from school. If your child has a health condition they're also offered the vaccine in school and no longer need to get it from their GP.
Nasal spray flu vaccine supply
The child flu vaccination programme is once again underway following a temporary delay, and all remaining supplies of the Fluenz vaccine have been delivered and are available for use in Scotland.
Most primary schools offered primary school children the nasal-spray flu vaccine between October and December, however due to the earlier delay, a few schools will be offering the flu vaccine in January. Your child’s school will have notified you if this is the case.
If your child is aged 2-5 and not yet in school (on 1 September 2019), there is still time to get their flu immunisation. Contact your GP practice to make an appointment or find out about local flu clinic arrangements.
This year we've partnered with third sector organisations to support the flu campaign. Our partners are helping to raise awareness about the importance of getting vaccinated for people at greater risk from the dangers of flu.
