Rearrange or opt-out of your coronavirus vaccination appointment

NHS Scotland will contact you about your coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccination (jab, injection) appointment when it's your turn.

NHS Scotland will never ask you to pay for the coronavirus vaccine. Do not share your bank details with anyone offering you the vaccine for a fee.

Rearrange an appointment

Please make every effort to attend your appointment. This allows NHS Scotland to continue to vaccinate everyone as quickly as possible.

However, if you are still unable to attend, or cannot get to the venue you can rearrange your appointment.

You should also rearrange your appointment if you:

  • are feeling unwell with symptoms of coronavirus
  • have recently tested positive for coronavirus
  • have been told by NHS Test and Protect that you are a close contact of someone who has tested positive for coronavirus
  • live with someone who has recently tested positive for coronavirus
  • live with someone who has symptoms of coronavirus

You should also rearrange your appointment if your second dose appointment is earlier than 8 weeks after your first dose, unless you are immunosuppressed and have an earlier second dose appointment for clinical reasons.

If you have recently tested positive for coronavirus, even if you have no symptoms, you should wait until 4 weeks after the date you were tested to get the vaccine.

If you're trying to rearrange your appointment online and there are no vaccination appointments available, please check again later. The COVID-19 Vaccination Helpline will be unable to offer alternative appointments as they use the same online booking system.

If you try to reschedule your appointment online but are unable to find a time that suits you, phone the COVID-19 Vaccination Helpline on 0800 030 8013 as soon as possible to cancel and reschedule your appointment.

Opting out of getting the vaccine

NHS Scotland strongly recommends you get the coronavirus vaccine when offered it.

However, if you decide to opt-out of getting the vaccine this time, you should use the 'rearranging your coronavirus vaccine' guide above, to find out how to remove yourself from the current programme.

After opting out, you will receive no further invitations to attend vaccination appointments. But will be invited again in the future.

If you change your mind after opting-out and want to get the vaccine, phone the appropriate number using the details in the guide.

Missing appointments or lost letters

If you think you should have received an invitation to your vaccine appointment or you have lost your letter, you should use NHS Scotland's appointment tracker to check if you have an appointment scheduled.
