You can share your COVID Status when travelling internationally.
What is the COVID Status?
Your COVID Status (or COVID passport) contains details of your vaccination and test results.
You can only access PCR test results and recovery information from tests conducted by the NHS on the COVID app.
The easiest and most secure way to prove your COVID status is to use the NHS Scotland COVID Status app.
You can also download or request a paper copy online or by phoning the COVID Status Helpline on 0808 196 8565. The helpline is open every day from 10am to 6pm. Give yourself plenty of time to get your paper copy before you need it.
If you're under 12, you can request a copy by phoning the COVID Status Helpline on 0808 196 8565. You cannot use the app.
If you're a resident in Scotland and have been vaccinated in an approved country, you can have your COVID Status updated to include this information.
How to download or request a copy of your COVID Status online
You can download or request a copy of your COVID Status online by logging in using your unique username and password.
Your username can be found in your coronavirus vaccination appointment letter. You can use this to register and create your own password.
If you have never received a unique username, you can sign up for one by using the 'recover username' option.
Once you have signed in, you should select 'vaccination status' which will allow you to view, download or request a paper copy of your COVID Status. If you're requesting a copy, it can take at least 14 days for your vaccination status letter to arrive in the post.
Will my booster dose be shown on my COVID Status?
All your doses will show on the COVID Status app.
Paper copies will only show your last 2 doses.
What if my information is wrong?
If any information on your COVID Status is wrong, you should phone the COVID Status Helpline on 0808 196 8565.
You do not need middle name(s) for international travel.
If your address on your status is out of date you can still use it for international travel, as long as your name and date of birth are correct.
If you experience any issues with the app, uninstalling and reinstalling the app will resolve most problems. You’ll have to log in again using the email address and password you used to sign up. You will not need to verify your identity with a selfie again.
Using your COVID Status for international travel
On the app, select international mode by clicking on the aeroplane logo.
You should follow the entry requirements of the country you're travelling to.
Read common questions about using the app like:
- will the app work on any device?
- has my QR code expired?
- what do I need to register on the app?
Proof of recovery from coronavirus
If you're travelling internationally and are not fully vaccinated, some countries may accept proof of recovery from coronavirus. Usually this must be a PCR test result. But some countries may accept a private, supervised LFD test result instead.
The COVID Status app shows details of positive PCR test results you've had through the NHS. If you're under 16, you should use the text message or email confirming your PCR result to prove recovery from coronavirus. If the test wasn't taken through the NHS, the text message or email from private PCR test results can also be used.
You can download or request a record of recovery online if you're aged 16 or over. If you're under 16, you can phone the COVID Status Helpline on 0808 196 8565 to request a copy.
The requirement to take a PCR test and free coronavirus testing is no longer available for most people in Scotland. As a result of this, no new proof of recovery certificates will be generated. Any positive PCR tests taken before 1 May will show on the COVID status app as a valid proof of recovery for 180 days from the date of the positive PCR test result.
