Cedar Project

CEDAR (Children Experiencing Domestic Abuse Recovery) is a groupwork programme for children and young people between the ages of 4 and 16 years of age who are experiencing social, emotional and behavioural difficulties as a consequence of their experience of domestic abuse within the family.

The programme lasts 12 weeks and utilises a recovery model focusing on the core themes of safety, emotional resilience and empowerment, domestic abuse education and awareness, improving communication between child and caregiver, problem solving and connecting with community.

A group work programme is also available to mothers whose children are attending a group, this support provides mothers a safe space to explore how the domestic abuse has affected their child(ren) and how they can support their child as they begin to heal from the impact of being exposed to domestic abuse.

Referrals can be made via an agency or self referral by contacting a CEDAR coordinator.
