Breastfeeding groups are provided in each locality and are facilitated by the public health teams. When visiting a breastfeeding group in Lanarkshire women can expect:

•A friendly, relaxed, informal and safe environment in a place where pregnant women and new mothers can meet and support each other.

•To share experiences with each other with a view to promoting and supporting breastfeeding. To be involved in decisions taken about the group.

•To have access to professional advice around breastfeeding from appropriately trained staff.

•To be supported in choices they make to sustain breastfeeding.
