The Bethesda Care Home and Hospice is of a high standard, devoted to the care of the frail elderly and those requiring specialist palliative care from the Lewis and Harris community. There is a cheerful, relaxed air about the place which seems to exude peace and a unique combination of spiritual and physical aspects of care.
The Bethesda Nursing Home provides 21 Residential places for people with full-time care needs and 9 respite care places for those in the community whose carers need a break so they can continue to care for their loved ones. There is a fee payable to stay in the Care Home.
The Bethesda Hospice has four single bedrooms with en-suite facilities and French doors opening on to a veranda surrounded by beautiful gardens. Hospice care is free to the patient and their families. Some funding is received from the NHS, but in order to provide this care, Bethesda requires to raise over £450,000 per year.
The Bethesda Respite Unit provides short-term care to those in our community who require additional support and have been assessed by Social Work. The 9 rooms are en-suire and there is a kitchen facility and Living Room for residents to access.
In-patient services are also offered.
The Bethesda Care Home and Hospice is a non-profit making Christian charity, registered with HMRC as a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO).
The Bethesda Hospice Shop is based at 48 Bayhead Street, Stornoway, Isle of Lewis, HS1 2DZ, tel. (01851) 706465, and sells second hand furniture and bric-a-brac to raise funds for the Hospice.
